When to much is never enough
I was taken by a fit of inspiration or madness ( which I will let you decide), today and pulled the cellar apart to take stock of what was on hand.
For those of you who have any sort of wine cellar/collection, these types of activities can be very interesting exercises with gems being rediscovered and some disappointments along the way.
For me it was mostly a journey of rediscovery and remembering the occasions when particular wines were purchased, who I was with and the 'emotions' the wine had evoked.
An interesting thing I found once I had my cellar laid out before me was not the number of bottles but the clustering of certain varietals that had occurred over time.
for example there are
23 bottles of Semillon
8 bottles of Riesling
12 bottles of Chardonay
13 bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon
and a whopping
53 bottles of Shiraz
Has this ever happened to you?
